Our Lady Day service held in Truro Cathedral in March, was an occasion of celebration, joy and love. We shared our day with our Provincial President, Nikki Sweatman and her husband John. It was a delight and privilege to have the Bishop of Truro, the Rt. Revd. Philip Mounstephen enrolled as a member.
Bishop Philip, who has seen first hand the work of Mothers’ Union in Africa, echoed the words the of Archbishop of Canterbury from the commissioning service of the Worldwide President, Sheran Harper, ‘There is only one Mothers’ Union…….one of the Anglican Communion’s greatest gifts to the worldwide church.’ The congregation was encouraged to be like Mary, to rejoice in God and to answer yes to his call ‘with a Mothers’ Union like that, just who know what God might do?’
We were also blessed, by the licensing of our new MU Chaplain, Revd. Alison Hardy, along with the commissioning of Sheila Waring as Diocesan President and the new Board of Trustees. The procession of banners, as always showed a wonderful witness to the enthusiasm and committment of the members
